Plastic or Nylon bones and tuggers are not only toys, but can be a great, fun way to help with your dog's teeth health. The plastic or nylon bones tend to be of lower "value" than real bones and can therefore be a better choice if your dog has a tendency to be possessive over tasty bones or food.

Chewing is also very comforting for your dog, and can help to keep them occupied when you're busy, or to help them to stop demanding your atttention all the time. But - always make sure that the product you select is large enough and tough enough for your dog - and supervise your dog when giving them chews or tuggers to make sure they're ok.

Caution - if you are having problems with your dog being growly or running away to protect tasty or other possessions, then please do contact a dog behaviourist near you who can help your dog or puppy overcome these problems. Also see safety notes.

Tuff (Tough) Dog Chews

These Tuff Chews are really the toughest chews we've ever found. They are great for cleaning teeth and keeping your dog occupied for ages. Uniquely, the indents can be stuffed with tasty treats to encourage your dog to chew and lick for even longer - or to encourage your dog to find out that chewing is fun.

The red chews are beef flavoured and the yellow ones are chicken flavoured.

Both are ribbed to help to make the chew easy to hold and to provde extra gum massage. The raised tooth-cleaning nodules help reduce tartar and plaque whilst the varied thickness and texture adds interest.

The Tuffchew is designed for strong chewers and is made from a super tough polymer to outlast ordinary chews.

Tough Chocolate dog chews

	Tough Dog chews - Chocolate Bones and Chocolate Dumbell These Hi-craft chocolate flavoured bones and the dumbell are made from really tough plastic with a yummy chocolate flavour. They can help to keep your dogs teeth clean and help to massage their gums, whilst also satisfying your dog's need to chew and gnaw. They're not indestructable, but they are much stronger than many other similar products - and therefore last for much longer. They can even be washed - or boiled to keep them clean. Dog Dental Chews

	Dental, Mint flavour Dog Chews Many chews can also help to keep your dogs teeth clean. When they're having a good chew, their teeth are scraped, and they enjoy the chew time too. Dog Mate Dentease are mint flavoured non edible chews which help to masage the gums freshen the breath. They are not completely suitable for tough chewers - but they are strong. The material is sort of chewy, and whilst the Tuff-Chews are superb for strong chewers, once you use a Dent-ease, you can really see that they work differently. You might like to try using Plaque-off, along with a Dental Chew, to give your dogs teeth a good going over. An added bonus with these chews, is they are calorie free! And, being non-edible, they do keep your dog occupied for far longer than the edible dental chews which you might have tried, and seem to be finished in a few seconds, without even being chewed (or maybe that's just my dogs)..... NB - if your dogs teeth are in a bad way, then please see your vet.

Safety Notes.

a dogs ability to chew depends on its breed and character. always purchase the chew best suited to the largest most aggressive chewer in the household.
as with any dog toys, do not leave your dog unsupervised with the toy until you're happy with how the interact with it.
regularly inspect the chew and replace it when it becomes worn.
Ingestion of the small shavings will cause no harm.
